Cancer Council ACT

Cancer Council ACT is a non-government not-for-profit community organisation that aims to promote a healthier community by reducing the incidence and impact of cancer in the ACT region.  Online TQI accredited modules are available free to all Canberra Secondary School Teachers.

Fresh Tastes: Healthy Food

Fresh Tastes: healthy food at school is a free and optional service available to any school in the ACT. The service can help schools implement the ACT Public School Food and Drink Policy 2015 by providing a range of resources, training, advice and assistance. Fresh Tastes is provided by ACT Health with the support of the wider ACT Government and local community and business organisations to embed a healthy food and drink environment at school. ACT schools are invited to get involved by contacting Fresh Tastes.

Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance

Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance is a not-for- profit organisation of researchers, health professionals and stake holders who are working together to advance physical activity in children and youth from around the world. Provides assessment of global variation in child and youth physical activity as well as information about physical activity promotion efforts across the world.

Active Healthy Kids Australia (AHKA)

Active Healthy Kids Australia (AHKA) is a collaboration of physical activity researchers from across Australia who share a common interest in increasing the physical activity levels of all young Australians. Each year, AHKA, produces a report card that provides a national snap shot of the current levels of physical activity in Australian children and young people.

Sporting Schools

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children’s participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities. Sporting Schools provides a program for primary schools and a targeted program for Year 7 and 8 students in secondary school.

The site provides important resources such as sports programs to help get your students involved in some new sports, as well as traditional Indigenous games everyone can have fun with.

ACHPER - Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation

The Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation Inc. (ACHPER) is the leading professional association representing teachers and other professionals working in the fields of health and physical education. The purpose of ACHPER is to promote active and healthy living for all Australians through education and professional practice. ACHPER also provides programs and services that support continuing development of knowledge, skills and professional practice, focussing primarily on health education, physical education and recreation.
